Neurofeedback Therapy For Men's Mental Health
For those who are not interested in talk therapy, we hear you! Not all problems are solved in the counseling room. Neurofeedback therapy is a great alternative or addition to talk therapy for those who are interested in regulating their nervous system and understanding their brain's unique way of functioning better.

So, what is neurofeedback therapy?
Neurofeedback is a specialized type of biofeedback that measures brainwave activity and uses this information to help the brain self-regulate and improve its functioning.
During a neurofeedback therapy session, sensors are placed on the scalp to measure small electrical signals of activity. The data is then sent to through a small machine called an amplifier, where signals are increased, then processed through specialized software.
This program encourages the brain to continue altering activity independently that is desired, such as decreasing a fight or flight response, and decreasing activity associated with symptoms you are trying to alleviate such as anxiety. The system does this with both auditory and visual feedback layered over a show you watch on TV or music you are listening to in the background.
Over time, this feedback allows the brain to learn how to regulate itself and improve its functioning independently. That means you are not taking an external substance, such as a medication, to help regulate yourself and we are getting to the root of the problem. Unlike other forms of brain training like TMS, we are NOT stimulating the brain - we are just reminding it how to do what it knows how to do independently. This method of training is holistic, incredibly safe and has been studied since the early 1960's.

Regulate Your Nervous System With Neurofeedback Treatment
By regulating the brain, you also regulate the nervous system. Many men who struggle with mental health issues, such as anxiety and depression, also struggle with a dysregulated nervous system. Neurofeedback can help calm the nervous system, leading to reduced anxiety and depression symptoms.

It is common for clients to report feeling calm, relaxed and at peace after leaving a neurofeedback therapy session. In the first month, many clients report deeper sleep and more vivid dreams. As your nervous system regulates, you will likely see other symptoms improve including higher energy levels, less anxiety, a greater ability to slow down and more motivation to complete the tasks you know you need to.
What Is The Difference Between Neurofeedback Therapy And Qeeg Brain Mapping Therapy?
This is a common question! Neurofeedback Therapy includes actively training your brain through a series of neurofeedback sessions.

However, in order to know what parts of the brain we need to train - we must start with an assessment which is called a qEEG Brain Map. This consists of having a tightly fit cap put on your head that collects, measures and processes electricity on the surface of the skull. You'll review this data with our program director and create an individualized neurofeedback program from there.
